Gradient Stroke

This is the first of my Photoshop Quick Tip Series. Whenever I find a useful new feature or shortcut in Photoshop, you’lle be the first to know. ;)

Today I’ve created a Sign up Button and I wanted the stroke to have a gradient. I was thinking to myself that it would be great if you could do that using layer effects and while clicking around – Oh Suprise! – YOU CAN! Haha.

I was a bit ashamed that I had never seen this before, but under “Fill Type” you can actually choose “Gradient” and here you go! Amazing! Haha…

Sorry, my Photoshop is in German, but I guess the Explanations will help. ;)

1. Open the Layer Effects and select “Stroke”.

2. There you can find “Fill Type”. Change it from “Color” to “Gradient”.

3. And finally adjust the gradient. Click Ok and you’re done.
